READ the New York Times

Dear faithful readers (all 8 of you),

I'll make this short and sweet...I hope all of you take advantage of the free copies of the newspapers we get here on campus. And by free, of course, I mean included in our student fees. Anyway, I know we're all stressed out and busy, but at the very least, I encourage you to flip through a copy of the New York Times as often as you can. It's a phenomenal paper. The writing is superb, the content is interesting and relevant - you're guaranteed to find something you'll read all the way through.

Last week in class I was complaining about how every single website these days wants you to subscribe and become a "member." That really annoys me. BUT, what you SHOULD do, is subscribe to www.nytimes.com. If I have a little time to kill between classes and I pass an open computer, that Web site is the first place I go. My favorite section is Travel, then Science. The Web site has photos, video, graphs, all of the standard interactive features that can't be put on newsprint.

Just do it. You'll learn something and feel better about yourself.

Seriously.

Right now.

Go join.

Then read.

And enjoy!

I agree JLS, the New York Times really "gets it" when it come to online presence. Their website is impressive and if you're into the behind the scenes of web development, they have an excellent blog run by their own developers at http://open.blogs.nytimes.com/

Their site IS great. I respect and trust the content partly because the New York Times was founded in 1851 and has won more Pulitzer prizes than another other newspaper. Longevity and success are great indicators of accurate, objective reporting.
